PR AND MARKETING


Public relations is an area which i have studied as a scholar for a year now. Learning the ins and outs of journalistic practise and PR relations. After endless amounts of readings, and primary research, i have come to an understanding of the factors influencing news agenda. Also the constraints or opportunistic values, as i see it, that the new age has had on traditional practise.

Skills i have learnt

  • How to write a press release
  • How to conduct and plan a press conference
  • How to target your story to the relevant journalists.
  • How to write a pitch to journalists to further broadcast your story
  • How to meet the criteria of the client, as well as writing a story which is newsworthy

Industry experience

The year commencing university i decided to take a year out and work for an outsourcing marketing company in Birmingham- MJ experia Marketing. Whilst working here not only did I gain first-hand industry knowledge , but also a tenacity and desire to succeed working on 100% commission. The intense year of 12 hour days, 6 days a week, allowed me to progress as a person, picking up a number of achievements and skills on the way.
